Terms of use
Last updated 23 October 2026
The short version
- Otti reads receipts with AI, and AI can make mistakes. Check the amounts before you ask anyone to pay.
- Your receipts are yours.
- You get 30 free scans. Otti Pro adds up to 100 scans a month, billed by Apple or Google, and you can cancel any time.
- Please use Otti fairly, and don’t try to break it.
- Nothing here takes away your rights under consumer law.
Who you’re agreeing with
These terms are between you and Henry Stoupe, the independent developer in New Zealand who makes Otti. By using Otti, you agree to them. How we handle your information is in our privacy policy.
Scans, free and Pro
- Free: everyone gets 30 free scans. A photo Otti can’t read doesn’t use one, and neither does the sample receipt.
- Otti Pro is a subscription you buy in the App Store or Google Play. It includes up to 100 scans each month.
- Pro renews automatically until you cancel. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play account at least 24 hours before it renews, and you won’t be charged again.
- The price is shown in Otti before you buy. Apple and Google handle payments and refunds, under their own rules.
Checking the numbers
Otti uses AI to read your receipts and checks that the items add up to the total, but it can still misread something. Before you share a split or ask anyone to pay, check it looks right. Otti is a tool to help you split bills; who pays what in the end is between you and your friends.
Your receipts
Your receipts and photos are yours. By scanning one, you let us process the photo so Otti can read it for you, as the privacy policy describes. That’s all we use it for.
Using Otti fairly
Please don’t:
- use Otti for anything illegal
- try to get extra free scans, for example with scripts or by resetting your Otti ID over and over
- copy, take apart or resell Otti, or try to get into our servers
- send us anything harmful, like viruses
If someone does, we can stop their scans.
Test versions
Versions of Otti from the beta (TestFlight or Google Play testing) are still being made. They might have bugs, and things may change between versions.
Changes
Otti will change as we improve it, and these terms or the prices may change too. If a change matters to you, we’ll tell you in Otti before it happens. We work hard to keep Otti running, but we can’t promise it will always be available. If we ever stop offering it, we’ll let you know, and your receipts will still be on your phone.
The legal part
We provide Otti as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for indirect losses, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you’ve paid us for Otti in the last 12 months.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded, such as New Zealand’s Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
Apple and Google
If you got Otti from the App Store, Apple’s standard licence for apps applies as well. These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. They aren’t responsible for Otti or for supporting it.
